Our charming cottage is surrounded by miles of beaches, a challenging golf course and a magical maritime forest.  There are no autos allowed on the island (except for construction and emergency vehicles) – only bicycles, golf carts and walking.

Bald Head Island is a 2000 acre, boat-accessed community located off the southeastern coast of North Carolina at the mouth of the Cape Fear River.

Bald Head Island is part of the Smith Island Complex which includes Bluff Island, Middle Island and 10,000 acre salt marsh preserve that is deeded in perpetuity to the state of North Carolina.  The island is also the site of Old Baldy (c. 1817), North Carolina’s oldest lighthouse.

Spend hours on remote beaches - miles of unspoiled coastline – searching for seashells.  Hire a boat for the day at the Marina and head out into the Gulf Stream for a day of fishing.

If the ocean is not for you, try the tidal creeks between Bald Head Island and Smith Island.

Take a canoe for a few hours.  Watch the egrets and ibis fishing.  Try your own hand at catching fish in the tidal current.
